Minnesota Club Baseball

09/27/2015 - At SDSU

Good Afternoon,

Our website guy has been very lazy this past week and finally took it upon himself to update the site from last weekends games at SDSU. The Gophs rolled into the MegaBowl hoping to retain the trophy for at least one more year. The Gophs proved to be the best four legged animal of the weekend and pushing across 33 runs in 3 games. The team has a lot of positives from the weekend but at the same time there are equal amounts of things to work on for NDSU this coming weekend in Minneapolis. A lot of guys stepped up this past weekend to help the team walk away witht the MegaBowl especially the new guys. Jason Leadley led the charge for the weekend at the plate. Jason a flexible outfielder will be looked upon to continue to improve the line up at the plate and his solid glove in the outfield. [Geoff Fisher] became a dependable arm for the upcoming season as well. Senior Righty Marshall Dalziel went three innings in game one and Geoff came in and helped lead the team to victory after a shaky first inning. With so many games on tap he will be one of the first guys out of the pen or to make a spot start. Aaron Schwecke Continued his dominence against SDSU with a great performance in the rubber match. In two starts against SDSU Aaron has thrown 12 innings, 10Ks, and 4 runs (2 earned runs). He is going to be someone that will be asked to play almost every position on the diamond and be a great leadoff hitter. The team is also hopeful that starting Shortstop and Pitcher Brock Chenier will come off the DL this week and contribute his bat and arm against NDSU. The team came out firing at the plate against NDSU but they will need to clean up the pitching and make an 180 on the fielding. 16 errors is no way to win baseball games. Austin Ridl won conference hitter of the week and Aaron Schwecke won conference pitcher of the week. We hope to see you guys at the field this weekend as we look to improve our conference record. As always follow us on twitter @umnclubbaseball for up to date info on the team.
